The best things I ate in August
dish: “tartar de cecina wagyu, chicatana”
this is a special occasion kind of place. with a bottle of wine, you can easily spend $200+ USD. but the food is stupendous and extremely eye pleasing. enjoy the tartare.
dish: “plátanos a la leña”
I went to Aúna with my partner on a saturday evening and the place was shockingly empty around 8pm. I couldn’t believe it because every dish we had for amex restaurant week was spectacular. the standout to me was the banana dessert. we will come back over and over, especially during mushroom season.
dish: “ensalada de jitomates, jerez, manzana criolla, almendras”
I dream of this dish. i’ve had it many times through out the year, but as you know august is peak tomato season. what i like to call the “green juice” should certainly be sipped after you finish the dish directly from the plate. pair it with an order of fries for a truly special girl dinner.
dish: “fettuccine alle vongole”
I stopped in here for a late lunch on a pleasant sunday afternoon. this is a dish to be enjoyed solo with a glass of one of their very good white wines. thoroughly enjoyed in solitude.
dish: “mousse de chocolate”
mondays at Imbiss are sacred. they have the negroni special, which comes with a piece of their famous fried chicken. between that and the to die for chocolate mousse, you’ll have the best glutinous dinner of all time.
